                                         Chapter Thirty- Nine

                                     Happy Mother’s Day To All

                                     You Mother’s & Updates

“What the mother sings to the cradle goes all the way down to the coffin.”

Henry Ward Beecher, Proverbs from Plymouth Pulpit

My Heart Will Go On

Sung by Celine Dion

Every night in my dreams

I see you, I feel you

That is how I know you go on

Far across the distance

And spaces between us

You have come to show you go on

Near, far, wherever you are

I believe that the heart does go on

Once more you open the door

And you’re here in my heart

And my heart will go on and on

Love can touch us one time

And last for a lifetime

And never let go till we’re one

Love was when I loved you

One true time I hold to

In my life we’ll always go on

Near, far, wherever you are

I believe that the heart does go on

Once more you open the door

And you’re here in my heart

And my heart will go on and on

You’re here, there’s nothing I fear

And I know that my heart will go on

We’ll stay forever this way

You are safe in my heart

And my heart will go on and on

Virginia, I received my first ever Mother’s Day card yesterday from my partner, J.D.  It partially read:

Sending

Mother’s Day Blessings

Across the Miles

Sometimes I’ll just be

going through my day,

and suddenly I’ll

remember something

you did or said

that touched my heart.

You have given me

a heart full of treasures,

and each time

I rediscover one,

I realize how blessed

I am to be able

to call you “Mom.”

“I have come to have much joy and comfort in your love….”

UPDATES

Refer to chapter 11 (July, 2006) and chapter 18 (January, 2007) for background.

Big Bobby Bee played the junkie stunt (=dumb) move of going psych at learning of his sentence, and went to  Chattahoochee.

You see, Virginia, the smart criminal (oxymoron) knows that serving time in a psych facility includes more freedom, an allowance, more food, and better treatment.  So, Bobby went pysch thinking that would land him back on the streets in a year or two, to avoid the inevitable reality which occurred in February, 2008, when he received a life sentence.  He now  resides in a northern Florida prison, short one testicle that got shot off during his attempted armed robbery of a Tampa restaurant in October, 2006.  I previously wrote that Bobby would probably never see the streets again.

ANOTHER UPDATE

Refer to chapter 27 (March, 2007) for background.

Virginia, the good news here is that the Florida legislature finally gave Alan Crozier his due, and followed federal guidelines established in 2004, and will now compensate wrongfully imprisoned persons $50,000.00 for each year imprisoned.  Sometimes justice is slow, but progress is always to be commended!

ANOTHER UPDATE

Refer to chapter 30 (August, 2007) for background.

I am happy to report that the inmate was never killed by the guards.  However, for accidently dropping a food tray, he remains on CM (close management), even after his recent review, and six months of perfect behavior.  He is on level 1, the worst, locked up 23 hours, and 55 minutes a day.  So, they gave him another 6 months.  So much for Florida compassion or rehabilitation.  Cruelty, and systemic violence continues in the prisons of Florida and America.

Florida just decided to cut educational spending for our children so they could build 3 more prisons, and hire 1,400 more guards, so we could increase our already 100,000 prisoners up to 110,000.  Those represent Republican leadership thinking, and family values.

Register to vote, and vote come this November.  The only thing at stake is you, your family, your children, and your country.  The question you need to ask yourself is shall we invest another 350+ billion dollars in Iraq, or in America?

Vote for change, vote for progress, vote for the Democrats!

I Shall Be Released

sung by Bob Dylan

They say ev’rything can be replaced

Yet ev’ry distance is not near.

So I remember ev’ry face

Of ev’ry man who put me here.

I see my light come shining

From the west unto the east.

Any day now, any day now,

I shall be released.

They say ev’ry man needs protection,

They say ev’ry man must fall.

Yet I swear I see my reflection

Some place so high above this wall

I see my light come shining

From the west unto the east.

Any day now, any day now,

I shall be released.

Standing next to me in this lonely crowd,

is a man who swears he’s not to blame.

All day long I hear him shout so loud,

Crying out that he was framed.

I see my light come shining

From the west unto the east.

Any day now, any day now,

I shall be released.

“In the little world in which children have their existence, whosoever brings them up, there is nothing so finely perceived and so finely felt as injustice.”

Charles Dickens, Great Expectations

J.D. and I wish all you mothers a Happy Mother’s Day, and ma, thanks for all your love and guidance you gave me throughout your life. Rest in peace (chapter 14, August, 2006).
