                                          Chapter Forty

                                          We’re Engaged

“Set me as a seal upon thy heart, as a seal upon thine arm:  for love is strong as death.”

Bible, Song Of Solomon 8:6

The Story In Your Eyes

By The Moody Blues

I’ve been thinking about our fortune

And I’ve decided that we’re really not to blame

For the love that’s deep inside us now

Is still the same

And the sounds we make together

Is the music to the story in your eyes

It’s been shining down upon me now

I realize

Listen to the tide slowly turning

Wash all our heartaches away

We’re part of the fire that is burning

And from the ashes we can build another day

But I’m frightened for your children

That the life that we are living is in vain

And the sunshine we’ve been waiting for

Will turn to rain

Listen to the tide slowly turning

Wash all our heartaches away

We’re part of the fire that is burning

And from the ashes we can build another day

But I’m frightened for the children

That the life that we are living is in vain

And the sunshine we’ve been waiting for

Will turn to rain

When the final line is over

It’s certain that the curtains gonna fall

I can hide inside your sweet sweet love

For ever more

My partner called this morning(06-14-’08) and said, “Christopher,” and I said, “James.”  He said, “Eckhardt,” and I said, “Dean.”  He said, “Remember this, it’s Saturday, June 14th, 2008.  Will you marry me?”  I replied, “Yes, I’d love to marry you!…”

I’d never had any one ask me that before.  And the state of Florida recorded it all, as they tape all of our calls.

From the guy who caught my eye walking the track at Liberty CI, in 2004, who at first refused my love, and then returned my love, to now asking for my permanent love.  Ain’t life grand!

Love Me Tender

(words and music by Vera Matson-Elvis Presley)

Love me tender,

love me sweet,

never let me go.

You have made my life complete

and I love you so.

Love me tender,

love me true,

all my dreams fulfilled.

For my darlin’ I love you

and I always will.

Love me tender,

love me long,

take me to your heart.

For it’s there that I belong,

and we’ll never part.

Love me tender,

love me dear,

tell me you are mine.

I’ll be yours through all the years,

till the end of time.

(When at last my dreams come true

Darling this I know

Happiness will follow you

Everywhere you go).

“It is with true love as it is with ghosts;  everyone talks of it, but few have seen it.”

La Rochefoucauld, Maxims
